PADDINGTON 2 finds Paddington happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, where he has become a popular member of the community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy's hundredth birthday, Paddington spots a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber's antique shop, and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it. But when the book is stolen, it's up to Paddington and the Browns to unmask the thief. Helmed by twice BAFTA nominated director Paul King, PADDINGTON 2 is co-produced by multi award-winning David Heyman / Heyday Films (producer of all eight of the HARRY POTTER films, GRAVITY, THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM) and StudioCanal, who will also distribute in the UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. PADDINGTON is based on the best-selling and internationally adored series of children's stories by British author Michael Bond, which have sold more than 35 million copies worldwide, been translated into over 40 languages and captured the imagination of children and adults around the globe. ½ Adorable, clever, and beautiful to watch are things I would say about Paddington. These traits do not only exist in it's sequel, in many ways they are surpassed. Paddington 2 picks up where the first left off spreading a message of friendship and family bonds throughout but P2 blows past the first installment with a fairly exciting adventure plot that the first film din't quite hit as hard. Hugh Grant was likely born to play this role as he steals almost every scene in which he appears making a great foil for our protagonists. He by far had the stand out performance. Paddington 2 is full of heart and joy. It's has a few laughs, the kids will enjoy it, and it is packed with a lot of great supporting performances. In a genre where far too many kids sequels fall flat, Paddington 2 stands out among the crowd. Paddington Bear is back in another adventure of his since 2014's (2015 elsewhere) Paddington. Remarkable in every single way possible, Paddington 2 manages to become the first real success I was looking for since 2018 just started. Sure Paddington Bear isn't as popular in the United States as he is in the United Kingdom, but I can guarantee that these adaptations deserve more attention than what we expect to see at the box office. If you are looking for a new movie to see in January, Paddington 2 is obviously your ticket. Jan 14, 2018 Paddington 2 summary of box office results, charts and release information and related links. Never count out a determined yet cuddly bear with a red hat. 5 out of 5 stars. The storytelling really makes you think Houdini himself wrote the script. I mean Houdini wasn’t a screenwriter (that we know of) but if he was, he could have written something like Paddington 2 cause it was ‘magical’. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to make a marmalade sandwich. The short review: A feel-good film that appeals to people of all ages. It could have been 'great' but it was merely 'good' due to two unrealistic scenes in the end that let it down for me. It could have been 'great' but it was merely 'good' due to two unrealistic scenes in the end that let it down for me. Related media: I have not read any of the children books, but I have seen the first film. I had only given it a 3/5. Please check out my review of it. What's it like?: Paddington the bear finds a wonderful pop-up book in a shop and he wants to earn the money to buy it and then send it to his aunt, but the villain wants the book too! Pros: 1) The first film appealed more to children, while this film has better acting and a more realistic plot and it has a broader appeal. Adults would enjoy this more than the first film. 2) Hugh Grant had a great opportunity to display his diverse acting skills as the villain here and he did not disappoint. Cons: Everything was going well and I would have awarded the film 5/5, and then it had to show two highly unrealistic scenes towards the end! How would the the different age groups rate it? Children: Excellent Teens: Excellent Young adults: Good Medium age adults: Good Old adults: Good Rating: 4/5 (no half scores). It's worthwhile to pay to watch it in the cinema. If you have had enough of bad (weather, colds, etc.), it’s time for Paddington 2. It is not the best comedy I have ever seen (that would be The Producers) and it’s not Wallace and Gromit, but it is a lot of fun. Not a lot of wit and nothing sly below the surface, but it should make you happy If you have had enough of bad (weather, colds, etc.), it’s time for Paddington 2. It is not the best comedy I have ever seen (that would be The Producers) and it’s not Wallace and Gromit, but it is a lot of fun. Not a lot of wit and nothing sly below the surface, but it should make you happy for almost two hours – and several hours afterward.
